LIS-300 Introduction to Information Science

In this class we’ll start exploring the concepts of information science. Information science attempts to look at the phenomena of information using scientific and social scientific techniques. We’ll be looking at ways different scholars have looked at these phenomena and starting to think about how information affects us, and how we can use information skills in the job market or for social good.

  3. Describe and discuss the history, philosophy and interdisciplinary nature of information science.
  4. Identify and explain important concepts, theories, principles and methodologies related to the study of information.
  5. Describe and analyze how information and information technology serves the needs of individuals, organizations, and communities.
