IST 304 Project Management in Information Organizations

This course will prepare you to access, evaluate, and manage information so that you may more effectively meet your personal and academic information needs. Through personal information management (PIM) techniques, this course will train you in research methods with a special focus on use of library, web, and application-based digital resources. Additionally we will explore security/privacy and ethics issues, including plagiarism, source citation, and fair use.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply the elementary concepts of project planning and organization, budgeting and control and project life cycles.
  2. Apply concepts related to organizational workflow including the staffing process, project planning elements and the project plan contents.
  3. Demonstrate the basics of using project management software in some project management activities.
  4. Describe the related concepts of organizational forms, conflict resolution, and issues related to leadership and task management in a project environment.
  5. General Education Speaking Intensive Student Learning Outcome: Students will be able to speak in genres appropriate to the discipline(s) of the primary subject matter of the course.

A Guide for Creating a Productivity Assistant with Open AI

This slideshow is the culmination of our project management group assignment in project management, over 15 students contributed to this slideshow. I was responsible for creating an artificial intelligence productivity tool for Americorps' HR department. I walk through the steps on how to integrate artificial intelligence solutions using Open AI's framework (Chat GPT's parent company). There is a video demonstration near slide 23. ( I had to speed the recording up to keep the presentation within the allotted time frame. )
